Schneider Weisse brews a limited edition of TAPX ”Mein Nelson Sauvin”
Internationally inspired Bavarian wheat beer will be released in October

Kelheim, 2011 September 6th: In October Schneider Weisse will release a new wheat which will be strictly limited. The new creation of brewery boss Georg Schneider and his brewmaster Hans-Peter Drexler is called TAPX ”Mein Nelson Sauvin”, named after the hop variety from New Zealand, which gives the brew a fruity wine-like aroma. In addition, a unique fermentation method is used, combining different yeasts and the traditional bottle fermentation. The batch is available in barrels and for the first time with Schneider beers in 0.75l bottles.

Mein Nelson Sauvin is an internationally-inspired, Bavarian wheat beer, which builds a bridge to wine. Brewmaster Hans-Peter Drexler has high expectations for the youngest member of the Schneider Weisse family: ”We brew a golden wheat beer with a fruity character that goes in the direction of strong white wine such as Sauvignon Blanc and offers a finely integrated hop bitterness in the finish.” This makes the new wheat beer an ideal companion to pickled vegetables, Parma ham, pasta and creamy, ripe cheese and fruity desserts.

Georg Schneider designed the label: ”On the label I want to show the idea and the taste of the beer and I have decided to use a hop shoots with colored umbels on a blue and white background which stands for the Bavarian sky.”

Mein Nelson Sauvin was developed exclusively for the 25th anniversary of ABT-cafés in Holland. The much heralded anniversary beer will be on tap in all the nearly 50 cafés of the Alliance in the month of October. ”The ABT-cafés offer a wide selection of handpicked beers from all over the world. The fact that they have chosen us to brew their anniversary beer, of course makes us very proud,” says export director Susanne Hecht. The new wheat beer is very much expected in many other specialty markets worldwide. There are pre-orders from America, Italy, Austria or England. In Germany it will be available in the Weisses Bräuhäuser in Munich and Kelheim and can be purchased online through www.schneiders-kaufladen.de. Mein Nelson Sauvin is a brewing experiment. More brews of this beer are currently not planned.
