Old English Gin winner of the World Gin Awards 2015

The World Drinks Awards 2015 were announced during lunch at the Whiskies and Spirits Conference in London at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel on Thursday 19th March.

The awards were presented by the Chair and Editor of TheDrinksReport.com, Felicity Murray and were selected by an international panel of experts over three rounds of judging. Felicity says: ”The judges of both the Taste and Design categories were extremely discerning ¬- all those who have won an award can be justifiably proud.”

The judging was conducted blind and held in three stages:

Round 1
Each gin is tasted in its relevant sub-category to identify and select the sub-category winners and award any medals. Judges making up the World Gin Awards panel include leading journalists, specialist drinks retailers, bartenders/mixologists and hoteliers.

Rounds 2 & 3
Sub-category winners are tasted against each other to identify the ‘Best’ gin in each category and the ‘Best’ gins in each category are then tasted against each other one last time to select the World’s Best Gin. Judges at this stage include those in Round 1 to whom are added a panel of leading distillers and experts from the international gin industry.
